I was contacted by an a excited man-Tom, who was preparing to ask Aline-his fiancé-to-be for her hand in marriage. The couple was traveling from Luxembourg to tour Ontario for the very first time. I was really excited about the idea of capturing a surprise engagement session. But, apparently, I wasn’t more excited than him.
I got an email a few days before the shoot with a confession. Love took over and he couldn’t stand to wait to pop the question! He proposed ahead of schedule, so our surprise photo shoot evolved into a wonderful already engaged session. Damn those hopeless romantics!
I was happy that all went well, but I couldn’t help but laugh at the fact that those last few days were too much to bear! Nobody knows how love will evolve. Now that couple was completely on board, it was a lot of fun to work together to find the perfect location for their shoot.
Since they were traveling from Europe, I thought they’d appreciate the natural settings and historical buildings found in Balls Falls Conservation. By the time they arrived, we really enjoyed our time discovering the park and capturing the evidence of their love. It’s hard to narrow down my favourite spot of the park, because there are so many! Such as the bizarre rock formations that appear in the middle of the woods, with heart graffiti on the inside walls. They remind me of hobbit homes! Or the old mill historical building that’s in the middle of the forest, backing onto the river. Or the magnificent views as you’re walking along the bottom of the waterfall. Unfortunately it had been a dry spring so there wasn’t much water left, as the water is usually running very fast. I think it’s equally interesting to photograph against the worn out rock as I can’t get enough of that texture!
